The cultures of the Companies have suffered in Covid times as management has to take contingent decisions keeping in view the financial strength of the Company. The vision, mission and values were overrun by the financial crises. Moreover, some businesses took advantage of the situation and deliberately managed their employees more carelessly then the others. The after effects of such deliberate behavior has effected their employer branding and in extreme situations, they broke the myth of cultural supremacy above financial stability.

Now, in relatively controlled Covid situation; although different waves are creating spikes in Covid graph, the businesses are getting back to the talent market to feed their projects. Similarly, the workforce is reacting as per their Covid times experiences. The enthusiasm and spirit of employees have altered (Already employed individuals as well as job seekers) while, priorities for working environment and distance have also changed. Currently, the unemployment rate is providing the opportunity to businesses to evaluate their employer branding and catch up with their past mistakes. However, as per our observation the businesses are still carelessly addressing their employer branding.

Relatively speaking, employer branding is not only for the job seekers but it is also related to employees at company’s payroll. Employer branding is the magnitude of belongingness of your employee’s families. it is how they confidently relate businesses collective approach towards their employees in different events and situations. Employer branding is an asset which constantly cultivates with time…

Although, shutdowns and curfews in Covid times have made businesses to realize the importance of human resources operational perspectives. Similarly, the conversations of rightsizing and cost cuts in benefits are being constantly escalating by closed circles of influencers. However, instead of focusing on re-evaluating the salary brackets and benefits of employees, we believe businesses shall focus on human resource fundamentals. The adjustment of compensation plans may help to save few bucks here and there. however, if the focus is not adjusted for placement or development of professional human resource system customized as per company future growth, then, businesses might end up loosing the opportunity cost as time shall not wait for those who think they can…

JYA HRMS – Snapshot of Recruitment & Selection

Flowchart of Standard Operating Procedure: 

Scenario: Create New Position (Not included in HR Budget)

  • Functional Head discuss with HR for creation of new position due to various reasons. therefore,
    • New Projects
    • New projections
  • Head of HR shall do necessary procedure of tentative position in coordination with Functional Head i.e.
    • Job Analysis – To be Task analysis
    • Job Evaluation – Grading and costing
    • Job Description – Role clarification.
  • After finalization of necessary procedure, HHR shall discuss with Board
  • After Board Approval, HHR shall review the annual Budget and do necessary changes accordingly in JYA HRMS i.e.
    • Master data – for necessary report gathering
    • Organogram – Reporting line, document flow, hierarchy etc.
    • Job Portal – to retrieve information as required.
  • Create Advertisement on Standard Template in JYA HRMS
  • Activate template at Co. Website through JYA HRMS
  • Activate template at JYA HRMS Dashboard for review by Co. employees for referrals. (Optional – as per Company Policy)
  • Website activated Position appear shall appear in Open Vacancy’s at Recruitment tab as well as Job Portal.
  • Link position for necessary Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Visibility of vacant position on website under “Recruitment” tab.
  • Prospective visitors to the website shall review the Open Positions by clicking the “Recruitment” tab.
  • Prospective Applicant shall click the vacant position to proceed. (For Registered Applicant with Company Job Portal)

Job Portal: Standard Operating Procedure: 

Scenario: New visitor with First Time application procedure 

  • Applicant shall click the position and it shall direct the applicant to the job portal.
  • Job portal shall ask the candidate to create Username and Password by filling the basic information of name, email, telephone no etc.
  • Once the applicant fill the desired information, an email shall be sent to the mentioned email address for verification.
  • The applicant shall open the Job Portal again through the link in an email to access the application form.
  • Once the applicant is successfully logged in the Job portal, the applicant can revisit the Job Portal as and when desired to update the information in record.
  • The Applicant shall fill the necessary information required as per application form to suffix in case of any desired position advertisement as per Company requirement.
  • The application procedure shall include but not limited to:
    • Fields with Steric (*)shall be considered the compulsory information to be filled like name etc.
    • Fields without Steric (*) shall be considered voluntary information which can be filled as per applicant priority.
    • Psychometric test: (Optional)
      • Applicant shall take the test, the results shall be locked in the system and shared with applicant in order to review the characteristics.
      • If applicant desires to take the test again, the system may allow but the results for number of attempts shall be saved in JYA HRMS system for critical review as required when the candidate shall apply for any desired position as and when advertised by the Company.
      • The applicants can revisit the Job Portal through their allocated username and password.
      • If applying for the position and position requires applicant to take the test, it shall be addressed accordingly as per compulsory requirement.
    • Technical Questionnaire:
      • If applying for the position and position requires applicant to answer the questionnaire, it shall be answered accordingly as per compulsory requirement.
    • The applicant shall fulfill the requirements as desired by the Company in order to successfully apply for the position.
    • Once the applicant has successfully applied for the position, an auto email shall be generated from Job Portal to applicant email address as per information provided by the applicant for successful submission.
    • The applicants can change its credentials by adding or deleting information as and when required. However, the system shall preserve the results in history for the activities carried out by the applicant in different intervals.

He is a director of JYA Consulting (SMC-Pvt.) Limited. He graduated with Master’s degree in Communication (Specialization in Corporate Communication) and Post graduate certification in Leadership Studies from Western Kentucky University, USA. He has done Projects with Logan Aluminum, Inc. – a joint venture of Arco, USA and Novelis Corporation, USA; Leadership strategies International, USA; Franklin Precision Ltd, USA and Western Kentucky University, USA.

He was a member of Aitchison College Hockey team (1994) tour de France & America.
